What would Halloween be without zombies? Especially since the start of the 21st century, zombies have infiltrated popular culture, from books (World War Z) to movies (Zombieland) to television shows (The Walking Dead) to video games (Resident Evil). Their shuffling, limping gait is immediately recognizable, as is their groaning, husky cry of “Braaaaaaaiiiiiinsss….” They’ve killed off Will Smith, tried to kill Milla Jovovich, and have even fallen in love. Zombie costume sales are constantly high, and costume retailers rely on them during years when Halloween sales are not doing especially well.
Not all zombies shuffle and walk, however. As any skilled zombie hunter will tell you, if you don’t manage to sever the brain stem, even a zombie that has been cut in half or relieved of a limb or three can continue to pursue you, desperate for your life-giving gray matter. Some may even argue that a zombie crawling after you is creepier than one that is stalking you on foot.
That is where Bartok comes in. Bartok was cut in half by an overzealous and underskilled zombie hunter, and so he endures, forever crawling after his victims, mindlessly hoping to come across somebody slower or dumber than he is. With a skilled operator and a fresh set of batteries, Bartok can actually move pretty fast, and is surprisingly maneuverable.
You can see him in action here.
